The amazing Nikita Ducarroz, was at the X Games this past weekend in Los Angeles and she was kind enough to send us a day-to-day journal! Nikita and her FDV crew, were given an amazing opportunity from GoodPeople to work with the interactive skatepark there. Below is post 3/5, so you’re gonna want to check back daily, for the rest of the updates.
Day 2: August 2nd, 2013. Same thing.
Woke up at 6am, went down to the X Games venue at 9, and started setting up for the day. Day 2 was way more chill because everyone started to get to know each other, and everyone was started to get the rhythm of how things worked. I started out in the street section again to coach, and then once again moved to the park to do a demo with the girls and my FDV riders. Once the demo was over, I migrated over the equipment tent sort of on accident and ended up staying there and picking up how to run the booth. It was surprisingly fun to sign kids up, hand out gear, and then Lysol all the dirty pads haha.
From there I wandered over to the mini ramp’s equipment tent and worked the rest of the day there, lysol-ing and taking sign ups. After that we got dinner and headed back to the lobby. I was so tired from day 2 and was practically sleeping on my bike in the lobby when I heard another bike coming and raised my head to see Jesu…I mean, Chad Kagy, standing there. Yeah, I was freaking out inside haha.
He dropped his bike off by our table while he went to talk with friends and I will admit just that made my whole day. Dude’s insane! After that we headed back up to the room to get a good night’s sleep for the next day, supposedly the “day that get’s really crazy and things get stolen”.
