What if we organised a BMX jam for women? A ‘what if’ that finally became a reality this year on the 28th of September at the Mollet de Vallés skatepark in Barcelona! In collaboration with BMX shop The Cut BMX, the all-female BMX Crew Cliché started planning and organising what eventually turned into an incredible jam focused on celebrating and empowering women in BMX, welcoming all riders regardless of gender and strengthening the community.

Good vibes, best tricks and a big surprise!
Blue skies and sunshine greeted the riders at the Mollet des Vallés skatepark, with stunning views over the city of Barcelona. The event kicked off with a relaxed open session where everyone got to know the park and warm up as more and more riders arrived. The highlight of the day was a series of Best Trick Contests, two for women and one for boys, ensuring that female riders had plenty of opportunities to show off their skills.
First up was the Women’s Vans Best Trick Contest, which took place on a flat ledge and a flat rail. From flawless bar spins to rail ride 180s, everyone was able to land their first tricks and win some sweet prizes from Vans. The obstacles were a nice size, welcoming all levels of riders, but also allowing for very technical tricks. Women and girls from Spain, Germany, Ireland and Denmark showed what they were made of and were cheered on by the crowd and each other, definitely one of the many wholesome moments of the day!
Next up was the boys’ contest. All the riders pushed their limits, attempting daring tricks on the upledge and uprail. The boys went all out, with standout moments including Miki Fleck’s Pedalfeeble whip game and Fabian Bongers with more than one mind-blowing trick.
The day ended with a second best trick contest for women on the downledge and downrail. Many brought their A-game, it was incredible to see how the level of female street riding has gone up in the last few years with tricks on these obstacles like a railride, feeble-crank or luc-e. Everyone was cheering each other on and motivating each other! Another special moment was when everyone came together to support and celebrate the youngest participant, Mary Cubillos, when she finally overcame her fears and did a ledge ride. Absolutely amazing! But the day had more in store for her as The Cut BMX surprised her with a brand new bike so she can keep on shredding as she had outgrown her old bike.
The day ended with the celebration of the winners of the first Cliché Jam as the sun set over Barcelona!
Empowerment and community <3
The event was not just about competition, it was a celebration of community and empowerment. Female riders, often underrepresented in the BMX scene, took centre stage, inspiring young girls and newcomers to get involved. It was a day filled with great riding, thrilling moments, new friendships and a shared passion for BMX. Thank you, to everyone for coming out from all over Europe to ride, support and celebrate, creating an atmosphere that was welcoming, wholesome and inclusive!
A HUGE thank you!
Without the support of many dedicated sponsors, this jam wouldn’t have been possible! Vans, Odyssey, Sunday, Wethepeople, United, BSD and The Bloom BMX played a crucial role in the event’s success, providing financial support and prizes for the jam. As well as all the brands who pitched in with great prizes and goodies such as Aevor, Silent, PSHomies, P’alante, Mascotte and Banana Brand. A huge thank you for your commitment to supporting and promoting diversity in BMX and for making this jam happen!
See you next time
The overall positive response from the community shows that we need more events like this, so plans for the next one are already in the works. But until then, keep riding and empowering each other!
