Kelly Rowsell reporting for Australian Freestyle BMX girls. It’s been a hectic month for our elite girls so let’s get into it!
Event Recap
June saw the last round of the Olympics qualifiers in Budapest with Sarah unfortunately just missing out on finals but rode like a champion. Natalya Diehm made it through to finals and absolutely killed it coming away in 5th position and securing her spot at the 2024 Olympics! We are so incredibly proud of both of the girls!Â
History has been made at X Games with its first-ever women’s park category and the girls did not disappoint. Natalya came away with a respectable 6th place. Had it not been Olympus in a few weeks I think we would have seen the girls send it but overall the vibes looked chilled. It was epic to watch all the girls cheering each other on, having a laugh together and just having a good time!Â
Upcoming Events
OLYMPICS!! We can’t wait to cheer Natayla on at her second Olympics. At the last Olympics, she was injured and was unable to give it everything she had. So going off her efforts from Budapest and X Games, she will be ready to throw down everything she has! Let’s gooo Nat!Â
The very first Australian girl’s ride day just happened! The supporting brands list was stacked with the likes of Vans, Oakley, FIST hand wear and plenty more, so lots of prizes were won. I am overwhelmed with how much support YTG has already received and this is just the start.
Rider Spotlight
Congratulations to Kebe Standfordmodini on scoring herself a sponsorship with Liive Vision Eyewear. The brand sells sunglasses and is inspired by boarders, musicians, artists and adrenaline junkies. I’m sure you’ll see her rocking these a fair bit out at the skateparks.
Reminders
Natalya Diehm has set up an Australian sports foundation fundraiser to help her with living and travel expenses over the next 2 busy months, which include rent, flights, accommodation, food, travel insurance, bike parts etc. Any amount would be greatly appreciated and would help her enormously. It’s been a crazy month full of travelling and competition for our elite girls, Natalya and Sarah! We are all so incredibly proud of their achievements throughout! It’s definitely Inspiring our younger generation of female riders. Most importantly seeing the friendships they have made with fellow riders from other countries and how much they all support each other is awesome to see.
Until next month keep shredding and supporting your gal pals! YTG 🌸
