We’re only a few days away from the GT Bicycles x Bloom BMX trip in Florida! We’ll be hitting up some of Florida’s famous parks and then Swampfest as our last stop. Joining our trip will be 17-year-old Ft. Mitchell, KY rider Bethany Hedrick! Get to know her today!
Your first memory of BMX? Ollie’s Skatepark was my first introduction to BMX. I made so many friendships and connections with so many awesome riders and people. I remember going every weekend and not having a care in the world, just riding BMX. Seeing that park get shut down hurt a lot. But with every ending, there is a new beginning.
Your best memory/ experience involving BMX? The Vans BMX Wafflecup was so exciting. I had never competed with such a large crowd. I’ve always wanted to compete in some type of Vans competition, whether it had been the Pro Cup or others. I credit the Waffle Cup for everything that has happened since then. It sparked a new meaning in BMX for me, one I hadn’t really seen since I started riding.
The first thing that comes to mind when you think of Florida? Florida is crazy in general. I feel like every time I think of Florida it’s either nice beach towns or southern craziness (coming from someone from KY lol). Beaches, sick skateparks, craziness, and of course alligators 🐊 are all what comes to mind when I think of Florida.
Which stop of the GT x Bloom Trip are you looking forward to the most? Super stoked to go to KONA, such a sick park!
How nervous are you going to Swampfest? Is it bad that I’m not nervous? I just know it’ll be a good time!
