New UCI measures in response to Ukraine

In response to the attacks in Ukraine, like many other committees, sanctions, and organizations, including the International Olympic Committee, the UCI has released a statement in regards to the new measures they are adopting from the IOC to condemn the aggression from Russia and Belarus.

In relation to BMX:

  • Russian and Belarusian national teams are not authorized to be in any event during the 2022 UCI International Calendar, but it doesn’t mean athletes from Russia or Belarus can’t compete.
  • Athletes in these countries may compete under a neutral “flag” or have themselves registered under a UCI team. This also means no emblems, names, acronyms, flags, and anthems linked to Russia and Belarus.
  • All National Champion events within Russia and Belarus have also been canceled.
  • Athletes with multiple nationalities can also put a request to change their sporting nationalities without restrictions. Typically you can only change your nationality twice in a career as per section 1.1.033 UCI Regulations.
