2021 Bloom BMX Comeback of the Year

2021 was a new chapter for women’s BMX with the introduction of BMX Freestyle to the Olympics. We saw queens crowned for the first time and new BMX royalties emerge. With a few categories left to go, we will be announcing each day the recipients of the remaining Bloom BMX Award categories.

Yesterday, Vans BMX took Brand of the year, today, we are pleased to announce Anahí Valentina as your 2021 Bloom BMX Comeback of the Year.

COMEBACK OF THE YEAR
Anahí Valentina

Earlier in 2021, Anahí Valentina dislocated her knee, which resulted in a meniscus tear in three areas, and like many athletes, the cost of surgery and physiotherapy was going to be coming out of her pocket. Life halted for a moment, not knowing how she would get the surgery and rehab paid for, Anahí pushed forward and started a Gofundme which assisted her in making her comeback later this year. As our 2019 Bloom BMX Street Rider of the year, we’re stoked to see her hard work and determination pay off. Since the surgery, Anahí looks even stronger on her bike and even competed at the Urban World Series in October. Here are some more words from the community about her comeback.

“Felicidades por ganar Comeback of the year of the bloom bmx Awards! Te lo mereces después de todo lo que pasaste con tu operación de la rodilla. Eres súper fuerte y una maquina en la bmx! Por eso te soporte en gofundme porque una Rider como tú inspira y motiva a mas chicas a rodar bmx. Gracias Anahí y sigue así cumpliendo tus sueños ??” – Ariana Bibic

“With this lifestyle and passion for BMX, come many ups and downs; how those situations are handled can set the tone for many years to come. Anahi has battled injuries, political unrest, mental battles, and more this past year and is looking stronger than ever. Her journey bouncing back from knee surgery, obtaining a visa to travel, and ultimately making it on her first Kink BMX trip with the team has been inspiring to watch and we are proud to be a part of it. From UCI sanctioned events to cruising the streets with friends; Anahi has exactly what it takes to keep pushing forward and progressing, all while having a ton of fun with a huge smile on her face.” – Jay Roe (Kink BMX, Team Manager & Social Media Manager)

“Anahí ha sido la mayor motivación y ejemplo a seguir para mi y para muchos sobre todo acá en Suramérica, deseo seguir viéndola crecer y luchando para llegar más lejos, todos estamos expuestos a una lesión, y entre nosotros mismos podemos apoyarnos como familia, pues somos los que mejor entendemos como se siente estár en esa situación” – Gina Petrella

Tomorrow we will announce the 2021 Bloom BMX Backer of the year.
