Class Tracks:
This year, riders will register for a track and not individual courses. Pick one of these for each day. If you are new to a skill level, we recommend you taking that level both days.
Mountain Biking
– Mountain Biking-Basics: This series of classes is for newer mountain bikers who have never taken a skills clinic before and have either not tried riding on trails or at The Wheel Mill, and need coaching on the basics of bike handling to be more confident. We’ll cover standing with flat pedals to get over and around obstacles, cornering, braking, and basic wheel lifts. NOTE: If you have not ridden a bike at all in a while and feel like you need a refresher, come to a Women’s Night clinic on Mondays at 7:30pm before the event to get up to speed, or sign up for a private lesson.
– Mountain Biking-Expand Your Skills: This set of classes is for mountain bikers who want to sharpen their skills to get faster and to try bigger features at The Wheel Mill and out on the trails. We’ll tackle situations like drops, series of obstacles, trail vision for going faster, and more. Riders should have good balance on the bike and be able to lift their front wheel.
– Mountain Biking-Perfect Your Riding: This set of classes takes the fundamentals that you have learned in previous clinics and adds even more depth to your skill set. This class is for riders who are comfortable riding features in the park and want to get more air under their wheels. Students should have good bike control and solid experience on singletrack trails.
BMX and Dirt Jumpers
– BMX and Dirt Jumpers-Fundamentals: This series of classes is for newer BMX and Dirt Jump riders who have never taken a skills clinic before. Riders should be new to riding a BMX track, Bike Park or The Wheel Mill. This class will be educating you on how to ride a turn properly, ride a roller, take that knowledge to both the pump track and the beginner jump line. This is a heavy fundamental class and not intended for riders who are currently riding all the rooms comfortably at The Wheel Mill.
– BMX and Dirt Jumpers-Pumping and Jumping: This class will teach the fundamentals needed to ride the park and gain more confidence and speed. Riders should be able to have good balance on the bike and be able to understand how to bunny hop or get their front tire off of the ground. You do not have to jump anything in this class, this is an introductory class to give you knowledge on how to ride all the ramps in the park. This class will leave you confident on riding all the features and rooms in The Wheel Mill.
– BMX and Dirt Jumpers-Competition Training/Riding: Riders in this class should be able to bunny hop, jump, pump, manual and be comfortable riding the park. The instructor will be educating riders on how to use pegs, how to jump onto and off obstacles, and even how to do tricks. This class is the most advanced class of the event and is not intended for beginner or intermediate riders.
