Elodie Morel – Flatland Forward Feature

“I too wanted to dance with a BMX.”

Elodie Morel is the solo flatland rider representing France in our Flatland Forward progression contest this year.  She’s competing in the beginner class.  Read more below, be inspired and go ride!  Make sure you follow and support her!

My name is Elodie, I’m 28 years old and I live in Brittany, in the west of France.  Apart from flatland, I’m passionate about many things such as tattoos, old cars, my Harley, mechanics… I also do weight training and airsoft gun.  I began flatland 2 years ago.  Before then I did stunts (acrobatics on moter bikes) for 3 years.  Then after a big fright and constant de-motivation I decided to stop.

It was in August 2012 that I discovered flatland at Finist’Air Show.  It’s a show which takes place in Brittany and which gathers the best of riders in FMX, Stunt, BMX Dirt and Flatland.  After having seen the riders present (Fabien Stephan, Dominik Nekolny, Vicky Gomex…)  I too wanted to dance with a BMX.  It’s a great sport which gathers technicality, patience, tenacity and fluidity.  It’s necessary to be creative and to always push back the limits.  This is what I like about flatland.  I often ride alone, but I try to go to ride 1 day per month with the best riders in Brittany.  This allows me to have advice, learn new tricks and ride in a place sheltered from the rain.  Further, it’s important to keep motivated.

This year, I will work on many tricks like a front yard, tail whip, switch foot and lots of others.  I look forward to the summer coming so I can ride more often to improve my tricks and participate in some contests.
